Getting enough protein without tracking your food

Sometimes when life gets a bit more stressful than usual, in our case that would be my husband battling covid and me trying to fend it off, it’s okay to deprioritize some things. Even though my health and nutrition is always a top priority, I am giving my brain a rest and not tracking my macros for a little while. Instead, I am eating intuitively.

As a nutrition coach having gone through my own recent weight loss stage, I know how hard it can be to let protein intake slide when I’m not tracking it. So, I’m ensuring that I start off the day right with a protein-packed breakfast such as this.

I didn’t weight anything but I’ve been tracking macros for so long that I’m a pretty good eyeballer. I put everything into MyFitnessPal to give you an idea of the total carbs, fat and protein for this meal.

  • Two Mission Carb Balance tortillas
  • One whole egg
  • 100g egg whites (I buy this in the cartons in the egg section)
  • Four plant-based deli slices, air fried to perfection (you can swap in turkey bacon)
  • One ounce shredded cheddar cheese
  • One TBS salsa
