I deprived myself of cereal for YEARS when I thought carbs were bad. I look back and can’t believe it. Why would I NOT eat something that I love so much?
Oh, that’s right… because the “low carb” diet was (still is) such a trendy fad. And SO many people believe it is the key to magic weight loss.
The key to weight loss is a calorie deficit, meaning eating fewer calories than your body burns. Typically, when people eat no or very low carb, they are unknowingly cutting out calories, putting them in a calorie deficit, which ultimately leads to weight loss.
Carbs = fuel for disc golf rounds, lifting, running and just everyday life.
By tracking my macronutrients, the strategy I used to lose 30 lbs and what I teach my nutrition clients, I am eating a healthy ratio of carbs, fat and protein. Which means I can eat cereal AND lose weight.
You’ll see in this pic that I’ve got some protein-forward cereals, Special K, but I also enjoy my favorite varieties – Reeses Puffs, Cinnamon Toast Crunch and this freaking delicious Dunkin Donuts Caramel Macchiato cereal.
Do you love carbs but deprive yourself of their deliciousness because you think it’s the only way to lose weight? Think again!
